Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) graduate students nabbed major awards at the 12th IEEE Computing and Communication Workshop and Conference (CCWC) held virtually from Las Vegas, USA.
DIT (Doctor of Information Technology) candidate Rossian Perea bagged Best Paper while fellow graduate student Epie Custodio was named Best Presenter in the international computing conference where a total of 190 papers were accepted this year.
Perea’s Analysis of the Use of Analytics Platform for the Commercial Value of Mud Crab Production using Non-parametric Model combined aquaculture and IT to improve the country’s annual mud crab yield. In one shot, micro-farm owners and monitoring institutions can now come up with better data-driven decision-making processes for their produce.
Custodio’s Performance Analysis of Deep Learning Architecture in Classifying Calamansi, meanwhile, aimed to develop an innovative and reliable way of classifying calamansi based on size, maturity, and overall condition.
“These achievements show that T.I.P. graduate students are globally competitive,” said T.I.P. Manila Graduate Programs Dean Dr. Enrique Festijo.
The 12th IEEE CCWC held in January 2022 gives students, educators, and researchers an avenue to tackle issues, trends, and developments in computing and communication.
Research by DIT and PhD CS candidates Christopher Estonilo and Great Allan Ong were also presented at the said conference.
Technological Institute of the Philippines had previously won a North American engineering tilt.
USAID recognized Technological Institute of the Philippines as Model Career Center.
