Coalixon, a three-member dance group from Sultan Kudarat in Southern Philippines, has won the title of 2019 Senior Grand Champion Dance Group of the World at the 23rd World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in California.
Coalixon carried the Philippine colors on stage at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center during the 2019 WCOPA Grand Finals as it emerged in first place in the Senior Dance section of the competitions held on July 19. Sultan Kudarat’s pride bested 4 other competitors from Australia, Germany, Ireland, and Armenia.
The Filipino dance group’s championship win follows the 2016 feat of Junior New System which has since earned international recognition on various Got Talent stages in Asia, America, and China.
The Philippine delegation had a total of 8 Grand Finalists in dancing, singing, and modeling competitions at the 2019 WCOPA held from July 12 to July 21:
