The Philippines’ Sofia Loreen Cruz successfully raised the Philippine flag on South African soil after winning the Miss Teen Hope International 2019 title.
The young Filipina model and artist shined among all the candidates from all over the world and won the international pageant held in Cape Town last weekend.
Sofia duplicated the feat achieved by her predecessor Selin Bautista Hernandez to score a back-toback victory for the Philippines.
The Miss Teen Philippines candidate also showcased the colorful art and culture of Filipino ethnic groups in Mindanao in her national costume designed by Don Cristobal.
Cruz posted a photo of her winning National Costume with the caption bearing her message: “No! to Online and Commercial Exploitation of Children and YES! to Open Your Heart There’s Hope Project. Empower and Optimize the youth through education and access to health information. I am Sofia Loreen Cruz saying Lalalala Lalalala there’s HOPE! PHILIPPINES!!”
In 2018, the then-13-year old Sofia Loreen Cruz won an international pageant title after being crowned as Miss Teen Planet in Sozopol, Bulgaria.
With her successful stint in South Africa, Sofia Loreen Cruz joins the roster of Filipina beauty queens who recently brought pride to the Philippines after winning the titles in their respective pageants, among them, actress-turned-beauty queen Patricia Javier who won the inaugural edition of Noble Queen of the Universe; Kapampangan beauty Cyrille Payumo who bagged the Miss Tourism International crown in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Leandrea Batingan from San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan who was crowned as the Miss Tourism Ambassador Universe 2019 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
