The 4th gold medal for the Philippines at the 18th Asian Games was delivered by Margielyn Didal with her first place finish in the Skateboarding Women’s Street event.

Didal is also the 4th Filipino female athlete to win gold medals for the country at the current Asiad.

The first Gold Medal for Team Philippines at the 2018 Asian Games was won by weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz.
Filipina golfer Yuka Saso and Team Philippines won the country’s 2nd and 3rd gold medals in women’s golf at the games being held in Indonesia.

The 19-year-old Didal received an opening score of 6.7 points, and went ahead with 14.4 points after her “Ollie” in her second run on the skateboard. Her tricks section performances sealed the gold finish for Didal receiving 7.1 and 8.9 points.

Margielyn Didal’s gold finish has earned the Cebuana skateboarder the honor of carrying the flag for the Philippines during the Asian Games closing ceremonies on September 2. NBA player Jordan Clarkson, who played for Gilas Pilipinas at the Asiad, led the Philippine delegation in the opening of the games.
