A drone photo of Siargao Island shot by Filipino photographer Eric Jon De Leon has won the Boston Drone Film Festival (BOSDFF).
De Leon’s work titled “The Famous Siargao Island” won the virtual edition of the annual United States-based BOSDFF nature category.
De Leon impressed judges in the aerial photo and film contest with his stunning photograph taken above the world-famous tropical island in the Philippines.
The bird’s-eye view shot of Siargao Island located in Surigao del Norte was declared the Nature Photo prize winner of the international film festival which was streamed online in Boston, Massachusetts from March 19 to 20, 2021, “to celebrate the creative pursuits and achievements of drone filmmakers, photographers and 360 creatives” amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Eric De Leon bested three finalists in his category, namely Emily Bailly (“Missed the Boat”), Nick Smith (“Grainy Lines”), and Sebastian M (“Sulfur”).
Other photo categories include Architecture, Landscape, and 360. The festival also has the following film categories: Landscape, Sports, Documentary, Film Editing, Urban, Showreel, Single-Take, Cinematic FPV, FPV Freestyle, Student Film, and 360 Video.
De Leon is a professional photographer who is currently based in Los Angeles, California. He is fond of capturing landscapes and different perspectives of nature and cities around the world.
The Philippines’ Mayon Volcano sunset photo took the top Tourism Prize in Hamburg, Germany.
