Here is the schedule of the Filipino American History Month video talk series presented by the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) NOW.
The video series presents various topics concerning the Filipino American community and celebrates the official recognition of October as Filipino American History Month in the United States.
It was in October 1991 when Fred Cordova of the Filipino American National Historical Society conceived Filipino American History Month. By 1992, the state of Virginia had passed a resolution declaring October as Filipino American History Month. In November 2009, Congress passed the House Resolution 780, officially recognizing October as Filipino American History Month. In 2019, Washington state officially celebrated its first FAHM.
Filipino American History Month in October 2020 carries the theme “Pinoy Activism”.
FANHS NOW is the video conferencing program produced by FANHS-Hampton Roads (fanhs-hr.org). The 8 sessions for FAHM began on October 12, 2020, and will continue until October 31.
