The Pinoy-pop idols of SB19 are the newest Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassadors for the Philippine National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
The Filipino five-member boy band composed of Josh, Pablo, Stell, Justin, and Ken, was named the government agency’s new Youth Ambassador and face of Sentro Rizal (SR), the country’s premier cultural center for promoting the appreciation and understanding of Philippine culture and the arts.
Aside from having a growing fanbase and various awards, the NCCA said the group was chosen for its willingness to support its endeavors, as well as for their “genuine care for advocacies to uplift the Filipino spirit, music and culture to the global scene”.
“SB19 was chosen to be the NCCA Youth Ambassadors and face of Sentro Rizal not only because of their growing fanbase and influence in the local and international scenes,” the NCCA announced in a Facebook post on December 16, 2021.
“But also of their willingness to support the NCCA’s endeavors, as well as for their genuine care for advocacies to uplift the Filipino spirit, music and culture to the global scene, which is in line with the NCCA’s mandate to promote Philippine arts and culture worldwide,” the government agency adds.
SB19 has been part of various activities initiated and supported by the NCCA, including the annual celebration of the Philippines-Korea Cultural Exchange Festival and Padayon: The NCCA Hour, among many others.
This year, the Pinoy boy band Soundbreak19 (SB19) made history after becoming the first Southeast Asian and Filipino finalist in the Billboard Music Awards.
SB19 recently conquered Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart, overtaking world sensation Korean-pop BTS for the No. 1 spot in December.
