The Rotaract Club of Malabon Pioneer is presenting another DigiTalino: Start Your Journey through Digital Literacy seminar this March 2025 at Tinajeros National High School in Malabon City, continuing its mission of equipping students with essential digital skills.
See how Rotaract clubs empower communities—just like DigiTalino’s digital literacy training, and past efforts such as Rotaract and Rotary’s Soup-er Quick Response after Typhoons.
Empowering Youth Through Digital Literacy
The DigiTalino program, a service project of the Rotaract Club of Malabon Pioneer, successfully conducted its last session on October 30, 2024, at the Tinajeros National High School Audio-Visual Room. For the past two years, this initiative has trained 98 youth participants from various schools, including Malinta National High School and several institutions in Valenzuela City. The latest session saw 44 senior high school students from Tinajeros National High School engage in hands-on learning.
Aldei Rodriguez, Master Trainer Speaker of DigiTalino under the Break The Fake Movement and the ASEAN Digital Literacy Program (ADLP), led the training. Supported by Google.org and the ASEAN Foundation, Rodriguez is among the 59 master trainers in the Philippines who apply their expertise to educate targeted communities. He also serves as the Director of International Service for the Rotaract Club of Malabon Pioneer.
Just like DigiTalino equips youth with digital literacy, these UP, Ateneo, and La Salle alumni are fighting misinformation with innovative tech solutions.
Building Critical Thinking and Responsible Digital Citizens
The previous seminar featured John Vir Nino Mitra, President of the Rotaract Club of Malabon Pioneer, who highlighted the importance of digital literacy in today’s world. Christian Jay Lopez, SSLG Adviser at Tinajeros National High School, reinforced the school’s commitment to shaping responsible digital citizens.
DigiTalino’s interactive sessions focus on four key topics:
- The Power of Information – Understanding how information shapes perception and decision-making.
- Disinformation Today – Identifying and combating misleading information.
- Knowing Your Biases – Recognizing personal biases and their impact on digital interactions.
- How to be a Digitalino – Applying digital literacy for ethical and responsible engagement online.
Rotaract partner clubs played an active role in guiding participants through group discussions. Students completed Pre-Test and Post-Test Assessments and the DigiTalino Journey Worksheet to track their learning progress.

Strengthening Digital Resilience in the ASEAN Region
The ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme (ADLP), in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Malabon Pioneer, aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to combat fake news and promote media literacy. The initiative encourages critical thinking, helping participants become proactive in identifying and preventing the spread of disinformation.
Through this one-day capacity-building workshop, underserved sectors—including youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), the elderly, Indigenous peoples, parents, government officials, and teachers—gain vital skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
Equip yourself with digital literacy like the youth at DigiTalino—building on efforts such as this free media literacy magazine that helps Filipinos combat misinformation.
