The Rizal Eco Center on Tayak Hill is the lone Philippine entry to make it to the finals of the 2019 Architizer A+ Awards in New York.
The Rizal Eco Center’s interlinked pavilion, made of 30,000 recycled plastic bottles and bamboo as primary materials, was selected to compete in the Unbuilt Cultural Category.
It is now competing for two awards: the Popular Choice Award and the Jury Award. Public voting is until July 5, 2019.
Rizal Eco Center’s inclusion in the Architizer A+ Awards program is an affirmation of the center as one of the best architecture and design projects around the world.
The Rizal Eco Project, located on the northeastern slope of Tayak Hill in the heart of the Tanaw de Rizal Park, is an initiative of Filipino social innovator Illac Diaz and the Liter of Light, funded by My Shelter Foundation, and conceptualized by DEQA Design Collaborative.
