Raphael Trinidad is the first Filipino and Asian to reach World Rank No. 2 in Cable Wakeboarding by the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF).
Trinidad placed 2nd in the latest edition of the rankings just behind World-Ranked No. 1 Lior Sofer of Israel who topped last year’s IWWF Championships in Argentina.
The Filipino wakeboarder from Cebu previously also made history as he gave the Philippines its first-ever silver medal at the 10th IWWF World Wakeboard Championships, firming up his status as the Philippines’ hope for Olympic Gold. Raphael Trinidad was a silver medalist in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
The 19-year-old Cebuano was previously in third place in the Cable Wakeboard World Council (CWWC) Ranking List released by the IWWF and has maintained the top spot at World No. 2 since November 14, 2020, at 2331 points after claiming two golds and two silver medals from the IWWF online competition series this year.
Max Milde (Germany), Marko Gacic (Croatia), Riccardo de Tollis (Italy), and Ziv Zavaro (Israel) complete the top five of the current IWWF World Ranking.
