The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Science High School System (DOST-PSHSS) recently celebrated a triumph in creativity and science through their ‘Indak Agham, Himig Kaunlaran’ music video competition. PSHSS-Southern Mindanao Campus (SMC) emerged as the overall champion, captivating audiences with their winning song “Syensya at Teknolohiya.” This song aims to inspire the Filipino youth about the wonders and benefits of science, technology, and innovation (STI).
The music video competition, which witnessed entries from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, highlighted the PSHSS scholars’ remarkable ability to blend artistic expression with scientific themes. The PSHSS-Caraga Region Campus, PSHSS-Zamboanga Peninsula Region Campus, PSHS-Main Campus, and PSHS-CALABARZON Region Campus also garnered significant acclaim, showcasing their musical prowess and earning top spots in the event.
Held at the Philippine International Convention Center on October 27, 2023, the live event offered these young talents a platform to express their understanding of STI through music, video, and performance. DOST-PSHSS Executive Director Lilia Habacon praised the scholars for their multifaceted abilities, emphasizing the importance of nurturing well-rounded individuals proficient in both academics and creative arts.
The Indak Agham, Himig Kaunlaran event underscores DOST-PSHSS’s commitment to fostering a deeper appreciation for STI among the youth. Through innovative platforms like music, video, and performance, they aim to make the field of science and technology more accessible and engaging for young minds.
PSHS-SMC students previously won the Indie-Siyensya Video Awards and earned medals at the Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad.
