The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has successfully reduced its fuel costs from PHP 107 to PHP 67 per liter, a 37% decrease, through its good governance and strategic negotiations. This initiative ensures the continuous delivery of affordable and reliable mail services nationwide while promoting sustainability.

Learn how PHLPost is enhancing services with the nationwide resumption of Postal ID issuance and exciting new features.

Postmaster General Luis D. Carlos, who spearheaded the cost-cutting measures, stated, “We are happy to say that from PHP 107 per liter, we have reduced the pumped price to an average of PHP 67 per liter due to good governance. PHLPost has also reduced the fleet’s overall operating cost in order to continuously meet the needs of the mailing public in terms of reliability, efficiency, and transparency.

Under the new system, PHLPost closely monitors fuel expenses with fleet cards bonded to vehicle plate numbers, ensuring spending limits and tracking fuel usage. “Our vehicles now carry fleet cards and follow the pumped price in the market. PHLPost will now monitor the fuel consumption and impose a certain limit of gasoline on fuel tanks,” Carlos explained.

Additionally, PHLPost has closed its oil depot in Pasay City, allowing drivers to refuel directly at local stations, further reducing operational costs.

Gasoline prices are skyrocketing worldwide. We have to manage our resources and come up with a plan to minimize our expenses and implement good governance policies in terms of accountability, transparency, and anti-corruption measures,” Carlos emphasized.

PHLPost remains committed to providing efficient and affordable mail services to the Filipino public through innovative cost-saving measures.
