The Philippine floorball team beat the highly-favored South Korean team in overtime, 6-5, to win the bronze medal in the recently concluded Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation Cup at the Alonte Sports Arena in Manila.
The third-place finish was the best performance of any Philippine team in this competition. In 2017, the team ended up in 8th place in Thailand. Two years later, it improved five places all the way up to third.
The hero of the match was Ryan Hallden who scored the golden goal for the Philippines.
Led by Hallden’s first goal of the third period, the Philippines mounted a comeback from 2-3 down in the final frame and took the 5-3 advantage with only 5:30 left in regulation. But late goals from the South Korean led to the comeback and the heroics of Hallden.
Team Philippines joined the tournament in preparation for the 30th Southeast Asian Games to be hosted by the Philippines later this year.
SEND congratulations to Team Philippines, the bronze medallist at the AOFC!
