The Philippines’ tourism industry has garnered a total of 17 nominations in the World Edition of the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA).
The country conquered five categories in last year’s WTA and is back in the running for the titles of World’s Leading Dive Destination and World’s Leading Tourist Attraction, as well as three other honors, in the 2021 World Travel Awards.
The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) called on all Filipinos and tourists to support and vote for the Philippines in the World Travel Awards.
“We are proud to announce that the Philippines has been nominated in the prestigious 28th World Travel Awards!” the Philippine Department of Tourism announced on social media.
The Philippines is nominated in the 5 World Edition categories announced on September 27:
- World’s Leading Beach Destination 2021
- World’s Leading Dive Destination 2021
- World’s Leading Island Destination 2021 (Siargao Island)
- World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2021 (Intramuros)
- World’s Leading Tourist Board 2021
12 Philippine hospitality establishments are also nominated in this year’s WTA:

- World’s Leading Business Hotel 2021 – Discovery Primea, Philippines
- World’s Leading Casino Resort 2021 – City of Dreams Manila, Philippines

- World’s Leading Exclusive Private Island 2021 (Ariara Island, Philippines, Banwa Private Island, Philippines)
- World’s Leading Fully Integrated Resort 2021 – City of Dreams Manila, Philippines
- World’s Leading Luxury Island Resort 2021 – Banwa Private Island, Philippines
- World’s Leading Luxury Private Island Resort 2021 – Banwa Private Island, Philippines
- World’s Leading Luxury Villa Beach Resort 2021 – Amanpulo, Philippines

The winners will be announced at WTA’s Grand Final Gala Ceremony which will take place in Moscow, Russia on November 26, 2021.
The Philippines scored 11 nominations in the Asia edition of the 28th World Travel Awards.
In 2020, the Philippines was voted Asia’s Leading Dive Destination and Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, and won 5 other citations at the 27th annual World Travel Awards.
