The Philippines’ top athletes Jaja Santiago and Alyssa Valdez are set to face off in the first Premier Volleyball League Open Conference finals to be held in Ilocos Norte.
Jaja Santiago of Chery Tiggo Crossovers and Alyssa Valdez of Creamline Cool Smashers are leading their respective teams in the professional league’s conference best-of-three finals scheduled on August 11 – 13, 2021.
Jaja Santiago, the first Filipino import to the Japan V. League, returned to play in the Philippines while on a break from her duties with Conference champions, Saitama Ageo Medics.
Santiago, a former National University standout, was declared Player of the Week at the PVL as Chery Tiggo claimed its finals berth after defeating Choco Mucho on August 10.
Alyssa Valdez, a former Ateneo De Manila University MVP, has led the Creamline team to its top seed position after the preliminaries and first claimed its finals berth after defeating Petro Gazz Angels.
“I think it will be a tough game between Ate Ly (Valdez) and my team. Tingin ko Ate Ly is Ate Ly magpeperform talaga siya ng best niya and me also. I will do my best to perform and deliver for my team,” said Jaja Santiago in a PVL report
“I’m really, really eager to win the finals talaga kasi siyempre kung nagawa ko international, why not naman dito sa atin. Tiwala ako sa team ko na talagang kakayanin namin, sama kami hanggang dulo,” Santiago added.
Chery Tiggo and Creamline face off in Game One of the best-of-three finals on Wednesday at 5 p.m. to be telecast live on One Sports (Free to Air), and One Sports+ (Pay TV) with both channels available for linear streaming on Cignal Play and on gigafest.smart with replays on www.pvl.ph.
