The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will gather performing arts practitioners and international promoters and programmers from around the world for the very first Manila International Performing Arts Summit (MIPAS) happening this September 17 to 22.
According to CCP Vice President and Artistic Director Chris Millado, the multi-platform summit primarily aims to gather arts and business sectors from all across Asia Pacific and the world in order to raise awareness and broaden the market of the arts industry.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines, which is marking its 50th anniversary this year, joined different international organizations to build its network for the summit. As a result, the Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centre (AAPPAC) will hold its conference at the MIPAS on September 20-22, and the Federation of Asian Cultural Promotions (FACP) will also hold its conference on September 18-20 to coincide with the Manila International Performing Arts Summit.
The MIPAS will also host the Manila International Performing Arts Market (MIPAM) + CREATE Philippines conference on September 19-21 to prepare Filipino performing artists for their performances and business-to-business exchange.
To hold the Manila International Performing Arts Summit, the culture agency also collaborated with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to conduct a 1-day workshop in different parts of the country to discuss how performing artists and managers can effectively pitch, promote, and market performing arts content to potential buyers.
“Napapanahon na para malaman ng rehiyon (Asia-Pacific Region) yung yaman at yung kahandaan ng ating mga performing artists para makasalamuha ang ating tinatawag na international stage,” said Millado in an interview with FilCASPro.
