Filipino dance crew Team Genesis has successfully raised and waved the Philippine flag in the United Kingdom after winning six medals and securing five top placements at the recently concluded United Dance Organisation (UDO) World Street Dance Championships.
The 13-member Pinoy dance group bested other contingents from different countries and eventually snagged four gold and two silver medals in various categories of the competition held from August 14 to 18, 2024, at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, Lancashire, England.
Team Genesis announced the good news on Facebook and dedicated their victories to the Philippines.
Here are the awards the Team Genesis snagged for the Philippines:
- GOLD – TG Killaz, Crew Battle Category
- GOLD – TG Killaz (Khevin Selisana, Nhasus Ilano, and Ygianna Rivera), Trio O18 Advanced Category
- GOLD – TG Kids (Isabella Rodriguez, Kendra Fernandez, and Anya Carluen), Trio U14 Advanced Category
- GOLD – John Ron Garbosa and Floy Lavesores, Duo O18 Advanced Category
- SILVER – Nhasus Ilano and Ygianna Rivera, Duo O18 Advanced Category
- SILVER – Team Genesis, Ultimate Advanced Category
Aside from the podium finishes, other team members secured top placements in their respective categories.
- Gem Bendoy – 5th Place, Solo U16 Advanced Category
- Kendra Fernandez – 4th Place, Solo U12 Advanced Category
- Isabella Rodriguez- Semifinalist, Solo U14 Advanced Category
- Floy Lavesores – Top 16, All Style Battle Category
- Chiyo Catindig and Arvey Merlan – Semifinalists, Duo O18 Advanced Category
UDO social media posted the award-winning dance routine of Team Genesis, praising the crew:
“These guys came & conquered and walked away with the £3,000 Cash Prize
They had Funk, Soul and plenty of WOW moments that had everyone on their feet.”

With their successful participation in the UDO World Championships, Team Genesis has now joined the list of Pinoy dance crews who recently brought honor to the Philippines.
Award-winning TPM has recently won the championship title in Singapore’s ultimate dance challenge, Super 24.
A-Kidz and UPeepz were declared world champions for the Varsity Division and Megacrew Division respectively at the 2024 World Hip Hop Dance Championships in Arizona, USA.
