Philippine surfing mecca Siargao has been voted the best island in Asia with Palawan and Boracay also joining the top 10 in the 34th Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) Readers’ Choice Awards.
Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte dominated the polls in the Asia category taking over the No. 1 spot from the 2020 winners, Cebu and the Visayas islands.
The pristine archipelagic islands of Palawan came in 3rd this year improving on its 4th place in 2020.
The world-famous beaches of Boracay which won top island readers’ votes in the 2019 edition of the CNT Awards ranked 8th this year.
The world’s best-list released by the U.S.-based luxury and lifestyle travel magazine on October 5, 2021, divided the rankings by region which included Asia, the United States, Europe, the Caribbean and the Atlantic, Australia and the South Pacific, and Africa.
Condé Nast Traveler’s 800,000 surveyed readers also voted for their favorite countries around the world, and the Philippines made the top 20 next to Botswana and Indonesia, with Portugal bagging the top spot in the rankings.
Condé Nast Traveller also picked Siargao as one of the Best Holiday Destinations in 2020.
