The Philippines has been hailed the Best Dive Destination in the Asia Pacific at this year’s Travel Weekly Asia (TWA) Readers’ Choice Awards.
Travel industry professionals and readers of the leading travel publication selected the waters of the Philippine islands as the regional winner of the award at a hybrid event in Singapore.
The Philippine diving scene is composed of top destinations such as Malapascua Island and Moalboal in Cebu, and Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park and Coron Bay in Palawan, among many others.
The country joins this year’s award winners that were honored across three categories presented to outstanding organizations that have displayed dedication to unparalleled service, innovation, and overall excellence in their respective businesses in the past year.
Winners of the TWA 2021 were selected based on votes cast by industry professionals who judged factors including overall excellence, professionalism, innovation, and other critical aspects.
“The winners of our Readers Choice Awards represent the best of the best in the tourism industry in Asia. In the face of a year with unprecedented challenges, they have emerged stronger than before and are ready to meet the rebound demand of the travel market,” Irene Chua, vice president and group publisher, Asia Northstar Travel Group, said in a press release on December 8, 2021.
“The winners we are recognising for their achievements will certainly be in the right position to take advantage of that and lead the way for Asia’s recovery,” Chua added.
The TWA 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards serves as a platform to honor extraordinary travel suppliers in Asia-Pacific, who have distinguished themselves by establishing ground-breaking developments or enhancing services to push new frontiers for the future of tourism.
In addition to being celebrated during the hybrid awards ceremony in Singapore, all the Travel Weekly Asia 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards’ winners will be featured in the January/February 2022 print issue of Travel Weekly Asia.
The Philippines has bagged numerous international awards for its dive sites and scenic white sand beaches.
The country was voted Best Diving Area during the 28th Marine Diving Fair in Japan and remains Asia’s Leading Dive Destination in the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) for the third consecutive year.
