The Philippines’ bet Emmanuelle Vera won 3rd Runner-up in the recently concluded Reina Hispanoamericana pageant held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.

The Filipina actress-singer was named the Tercera Finalista (Third Runner-Up) during the pageant’s coronation night which was broadcast live in Bolivia on October 30, 2021 (October 31, Manila time).

The Miss World Philippines organization also released a message congratulating Vera for making it to the Top 3 of the annual beauty pageant that celebrates Hispanic heritage, language, and culture.

“We are so proud of you! You represented our country very well. Thank you for raising the flag of the Filipinas. Mabuhay ka!” the organization wrote.

Andrea Bazarte of Mexico was crowned as the beauty pageant’s new winner.

In the question-and-answer round, Vera was asked: “Life after the pandemic has given us a second chance. What do you do now and why?”

Using an interpreter, Vera answered: “I stand before you today receiving my second chance. The pandemic rendered me jobless and hopeless. But through faith and perseverance, I rose again.”

“But I realized that many Filipinos, countless Filipinos did not have the same opportunity as I did. Throughout the pandemic, I had the privilege of volunteering, raising funds, and serving the less fortunate in my country. I witnessed their situation and I realized that I will never be the same,” Vera said.

“And now, because of the pandemic, I choose to see people through the lens of empathy to give them kindness and to act in genuine selfless love. And to live a life that serves a purpose that is bigger than myself and is in service of my fellowmen.”

Before the pageant’s coronation night, the Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas candidate showed off the Philippine national costume designed by Louis Pangilinan “to represent the hardworking Filipino fishermen who strive to thrive and succeed amid the increasingly tumultuous times.”

The opulent white ensemble donned by Vera “celebrates the strength and perseverance of the Filipino to overcome the difficulties they face, and represents hope for better times.”

Vera flew to Bolivia to attend the pageant in October, succeeding Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2019 candidate Katrina Llegado and Winwyn Marquez, the first Filipino and Asian winner of the Latin country-based pageant in 2017.
