The Astrafellas from the Philippines has won the International Gold Award from the A Capella Championships (AcaChamps) in Singapore.
The multi-awarded Astrafellas of Baguio City was adjudged first placers in the International Category of the AcaChamps choral competition conducted online on July 4, 2020.
The Filipino vocal group composed of Chantal Salonga, Glenford Gamilde, Daniel Frederick Mallari, Jon Rainiel Jimenez, John Paul Cabasag, and Yuri Dale De Guzman performed “Into The Unknown” from the movie, Frozen II, originally recorded by Idina Menzel and Panic! At The Disco and composed by Filipino-American Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen.
The AcaChamps International Gold Award of 2020 follows Astrafellas’s Runner-up title in the same competition in 2019.
Established in 2001, A Cappella Championships is also known as AcaChamps – Singapore’s biggest singing competition dedicated to A Cappella music. It encourages a cappella groups to hone their passion for excellence for a bigger or global platform.
