The Philippines’ universities secured spots in the World’s Top 200 Most Popular Universities on Facebook, as reported in the latest uniRank survey. This achievement underscores the critical role of social media in connecting universities with prospective students worldwide.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) led the most social media-savvy schools in the country known for being top users of the online platform.
In the latest rankings released by Australia-based uniRank in February 2024, eight Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) were listed among Facebook’s top 200, with Harvard University leading the chart. No Philippine universities were featured in the Instagram Top 200.

UniRank assessed Facebook statistics for the total number of followers and listed 8 from the Philippines among the World’s Top 200 Most Popular Universities on Facebook:

The uniRank site says it aims to offer an approximate popularity index of the top 200 universities on Facebook with a methodology that focuses on non-distance, traditional education offerings and requires institutions to be accredited and offer extended degree programs.
uniRank is a higher education directory and search engine featuring reviews and rankings of over 13,800 recognized Universities and Colleges in 200 countries.
DLSU, UST, and PUP previously led the Most Popular Philippine Universities on Facebook with the Lasallian education institution topping Philippine schools on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
