The Kapuso series follows the life stories of Filipinos during the final years of American colonization and transitioning to the Japanese occupation of the Philippines in the 1940s.
Award-winning actors Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Dennis Trillo top bill the ongoing historical drama series on GMA-7 and Netflix.
‘Pulang Araw’ competed against four other TV series: ‘Golden Boy S2’ (Turkiye), ‘Never Give Up’ (Brazil), ‘Cacau’ (Brazil), and ‘Lady of Tides’ (Portugal) which eventually won the category.
Established in 2018, the annual Venice TV Award held two weeks after the Venice Film Festival is held “to honor the companies and individuals responsible for the creation of the world’s finest work on TV.”
The nomination of ‘Pulang Araw’ at this year’s Venice TV Award is a milestone and an accomplishment for Philippine television.
