YouTube gave the Philippines three awards for its tourism campaign video “Anak” – a minute-long ad answering the question why ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’.
Anak, a Department of Tourism campaign featuring the ‘fun’ in Filipino family and hospitality, has received over 14.5 million views on YouTube.
The inaugural YouTube Ads Awards Philippines gave the Anak ad campaign the following citations:
- Best in Overall Performance, Creative and Media
- 3rd Place, Travel, Transportation, Automotive and Leisure Category
- 3rd Place, citation for Corporate Image and Public Sector Category
Launched in January 2017, the television advertisement filmed at the Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigao features the interaction between a Filipino mother and traveler Jack Ellis, whom she called ‘anak’.
YouTube Ad Awards judge chair and MullenLowe Philippines President and Chief Creative Officer Leigh Reyes said the YouTube Ads Awards’ first run “zeroes in on one of the major challenges to this age’s brand storytellers: to forge content that the online audience would appreciate, value, and choose to watch. Acknowledging the consumers’ power to minimize and switch screens, the awards celebrate branded content that can be enjoyed alongside the viewers’ usual supply of entertainment.”
