Palawan once again joins the list of the Top 15 Best Islands in the World in the annual World’s Best Awards (WBA) of Travel + Leisure Magazine.
The Lonely Planet top pick in the Philippines ranked 2nd on this year’s WBA with a score of 90.87, higher than last year’s 6th place with 90.04.
The rankings were based on the World’s Best Awards annual survey conducted by Travel + Leisure Magazine.
Travel + Leisure readers rated the islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value.
One of the reader even dubbed Palawan as the “single most beautiful place I have ever seen.”
Palawan follows Sri Lanka with 1.25 difference in the score, leaving behind the WBA Hall of Fame Honoree, Bali, Indonesian, with 0.11 difference.
Known to top the world’s best islands list in 2013 and 2017, Palawan also dominates Asia’s best list alongside Cebu and Boracay.
Palawan also ranked second in Asia’s Best list following Sri Lanka (92.12).
Cebu placed 7th with 87.09 points and Boracay placed 9th with 86.90 points.
“The Philippine islands of Cebu, Palawan, and Boracay are longtime favorites, thanks to the top-notch reef and wreck diving, white-sand beaches, hiking trails with waterfalls, and welcoming locals,” said Travel + Leisure Magazine.
Earlier this year, Boracay and El Nido Palawan’s Nacpan and Las Cabanas beaches were chosen among Asia’s Best Beaches by travel reviewers on Trip Advisor Asia.
