The Philippine island of Palawan is fast regaining its top rank as it landed in the Top 2 spot in the 2019 edition of the 15 Best Islands in the World list released by Travel + Leisure magazine.
Palawan, described in the list as the “perennially popular Philippine island,” was also ranked No. 2 on the 2019 Top 10 Islands in Asia list released earlier in July.
The world-renowned travel destination, an archipelagic province within the Philippines, is regaining its footing on the rankings as it moved up 4 notches from its 2018 ranking at 6th.
Palawan has been a 3-time World’s Best Island winner in the annual world travelers survey. The island group was ranked No. 1 in 2013, regained its top ranking in 2016, and kept its top island spot in 2017.
The latest Travel + Leisure Top 2 ranking for Palawan, which also recommended the island for its bluest blue waters, adds to its 2019 world acclaim given by Condé Nast Traveler which named Hidden Beach in Palawan in the Top 10 Best Beach in the World, and Lonely Planet which recommended Palawan as one of the 10 Best Unforgettable Travel Destinations in the Asia Pacific.
Travel + Leisure writer Rebecca Ascher-Walsh cited Palawan being called by a reader as the “single most beautiful place I have ever seen” in the latest survey of readers who rated islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value.
