Filipina beauty queen and humanitarian aid worker Catriona Gray is now in Zamboanga in Western Mindanao to promote micro, small and medium enterprises.
The Miss Universe 2018 titleholder expressed her excitement to tour Yakan and TauSug villages as part of her duty as an ambassador for the One Town, One Product (OTOP) project of the Department of Trade and Industry.
Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco personally welcomed Catriona Gray on October 6, 2020.
On her social media, Filipino pride and beauty icon expressed her excitement since it is her first time visiting Asia’s Latin City.
“Raise Your Flag ZAMBOANGA!” the beauty queen exclaimed on her social media post on October 7. “Our second chapter of our Raise Your Flag series takes me to Zamboanga, Mindanao, and I cant wait to spotlight our proudly owned and made Filipino products and businesses on my platforms to hopefully encourage you to all join me in our efforts to support our countrymen. #SupportLocalPH @otop.philippines.
“Tara! First time ko dito sa Zamboanga at sobrang sabik ako para makita ang Yakan village and to learn about TauSug weaves!” Gray added.
The Pinay model-turned beauty queen also had a video shoot while wearing a traditional Zamboangueña formal gown called Mascota which “reflects Zamboanga’s rich and colorful history.”
The 26-year-old Filipino-Australian beauty emphasized that she and her team have been swab tested for coronavirus disease, and have been following health safety protocol.
Prior to her stint in Zamboanga, Catriona was declared “Adopted Illustrious Daughter of Laguna” for championing the province’s heritage products.
