Filipino-American singers Olivia Rodrigo and Saweetie have bagged top nominations in this year’s Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards.
Teenage pop sensation and Disney actress Olivia Rodrigo, who is behind breakout hits like “Drivers License“, and Saweetie, who made headlines as she honored her Filipino roots at her Met Gala debut, are both nominees in the “Favorite Breakout Artist” category.
Olvia Rodrigo, star of Disney’s “High School Musical: The Series” has also been nominated in the “Favorite Female TV Star” category for her role as Nini Salazar-Roberts in the show. Rodrigo is also nominated for “Favorite Global Music Star”.
Grammy-nominated rapper Saweetie‘s collaboration with American singer Doja Cat scored a nod for “Favorite Music Collaboration” for their hit song, “Best Friend.”
The two Billboard chart-topper artists are among the nominees of the popular children’s awards show that will be aired live on April 9, 2022, from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California in the United States.
Hosted by actress Miranda Cosgrove and NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski this year, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards honors children’s favorites across the worlds of film, television, music, sports, and more.
