OPM president Ogie Alcasid has decided to donate most of his toy collectibles of 24 years to Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis’ Shop & Share campaign to raise funds for coronavirus mass testing in the Philippines.
The 52-year-old singer-actor has a massive toy collection, which includes Star Wars action figures, toy cars, Daimos, Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Marvel, and DC Comics.
“I said to myself that it’s time to let them go and it’s time to help,” Alcasid shared to CNN Philippines.
The husband of Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez realized he wanted to donate most of his collections while cleaning their house during the quarantine.
“If we’re gonna keep on complaining and doing nothing, parang wala lang. We thought of Angel’s initiative as brilliant and brave so I joined the bandwagon,” Alcasid added.
The Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) leader shared photos of his huge toy collection that he will be donating to Shop and Share.
“Been collecting these for over 24 years. Time to let go of most toys so someone else may take care of them and at the same time people will be tested for Covid. Just helping an angel with her advocacy. Go @therealangellocsin,” Ogie Alcasid captioned on his Instagram post on May 22, 2020.
Alcasid’s Instagram post reached more than 9,000 likes. The response from netizens were very positive.
Angel Locsin showed her appreciation for the donation by commenting “Thank you, kuya!❤️❤️❤️ Ang dami!” on his Instagram post.
Shop and Share Instagram announced on May 29 the Ogie Alcasid toy collection for auction.
Shop and Share auctions donations from celebrities to buy test kits for COVID-19.
Regine and Ogie had also posted a video of them singing “The Lord Is Our Savior” during quarantine as an offering to people affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
SEND CHEERS in the comments below to Ogie Alcasid, Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, and the Shop and Share team for their fund drive to help in COVID-19 testing in the Philippines.
