Former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Michele Sison has beaten the odds stacked against her fulfilling the dream to be a teacher. This school year, she finished school as a Cum Laude graduate and was even honored with her school’s highest institutional award.
In her younger years, Sison could not pursue her childhood dream and instead went abroad to work to support the studies of her siblings in the Philippines.
But after working overseas, Sison was in turn sent to school by her family. The 42-year-old finally managed to graduate this school year with an Education degree from the National Teachers College (NTC).

NTC Vice President for Academic Affairs Edizon Fermin told ABS-CBN in an interview that the award serves to honor Sison as an inspiration to others.
