Filipino nurse Danilo “Danny” Favor has again made history as the first Pinoy mayor of East Grinstead in West Sussex, United Kingdom.
Mayor Favor was actually reelected as councilor of the town for the 3rd time since being voted into office in 2011 and again in 2015, and has been proclaimed town mayor to serve for a year.
The East Grinstead website announced the proclamation of Danny Favor as the new town mayor until 2020. Favor will afterwards continue to serve as councilor until 2023.
The Philippine-born Favor first came to live in the UK to work as Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH) as an ophthalmic nurse after getting his degree in the Philippines and his opthalmic specialization at the King’s College in London.
Now a British subject, Favor has been known to advocate the cause of overseas Filipino communities and received the Presidential Banaag Award for his work.
In 2014 Mid-Sussex District Council gave Favor the Community Service Award.
Send your cheers to Mayor Danny Favor, the first Philippine-born migrant to be elected mayor in his UK town!
