National athlete Jia Morado has raised over 1 million pesos for personal protective equipment to protect hospital frontliners battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The “Every Little Thing Counts” fundraising event by the Philippine National Volleyball Team player and her partner Miguel de Guzman started on March 26, 2020, where notable athletes put up their jerseys for bidding to gather donations.
Among the athletes who responded to the call for donating their jerseys for the fundraiser is Jaja Santiago of the National University and the Philippine National Women’s Volleyball Team.
Morado happily shared on her Twitter account that after 30 days as of April 25 they have gathered a total of Php 1,028,031.75.
The fundraiser had the initial goal of providing 100 PPE overall gowns, 1,000 N95 masks, and surgical gloves. The group exceeded their goals and Morado and her team delivered 1,600 PPE suits, 4,000 surgical gloves, 3,700 KN95 masks to 14 hospitals.
“Big thanks to Rebisco for helping us with our deliveries, our amazing ELTC team behind the initiative, & everyone whose generosity & support made this possible #ForOurFrontlinersPH! Smiling face with smiling eyes. EveryLittleThingCounts,” Morado tweeted.
