National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab is leading over 100 Original Pilipino Music (OPM) artists in a Pinoy music showcase to be held in October at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Arts Center in Taguig.
The 2019 edition of the music showcase dubbed “Pinoy Playlist”, first staged last year, has signed up more than 100 Filipino music artists as of its launch last August 30.
Cayabyab, a 2019 Ramon Magsaysay awardee, along with organizers Moy Ortiz of The Company and entertainment guru Noel Ferrer will curate the music showcase presented as the Pinoy Playlist to media gathered at the BGC Arts Center.
Ortiz shared to Good News Pilipinas what the group hopes to achieve with the staging of Pinoy Playlist, saying, “Consistency in representing Pinoy music and Pinoy artists in all its forms, genres and generations. This is not a ningas kugon advocacy.”
Pinoy Playlist also announced its line up of artists that lists Filipino Pride Advocates Noel Cabangon and Bayang Barrios, Joanna Ampil, Jay Durias, and The Company among the music legends, pop artists, musical theatre greats, and indie music icons to be featured at the music festival.
OPM legend Basil Valdez will lead the showcase as the 2019 Pinoy Playlist major awardee.
Pinoy Playlist will be staged at the BGC Arts Center in Taguig, Metro Manila October 11 to 13 and 18 to 20.
Ryan Cayabyab, Moy Ortiz, and Noel Ferrer previously worked together on the “Sana Naman, Taumbayan” song advocacy for Filipino national unity.
Ryan Cayabyab is also collaborating with Lea Salonga and Apl.de.ap for the 30th South East Asian Games show.
