ABS-CBN Kapamilya actors Nadine Lustre and Carlo Aquino won as Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) 2019 hosted by Singapore.
The Filipino actors and other awardees were announced on October 15 in Cannes, France as winners in the Country/Regional Awards of the AAA that celebrates works in Asian film industries.
The 2019 AAA named Nadine Lustre as Best Actress for her portrayal of the role of Maya in the HOOQ film, Ulan (Rain).
Lustre’s co-star in the movie, Carlo Aquino, won the Best Actor for portraying the role of Peter.
Ulan tells the story of Maya who was cursed after witnessing a wedding of the mythical creature “tikbalang” when she was a child. Maya could see the mythical creatures of her grandmother’s stories every time the rain falls while the sun is shining. Her other-worldly abilities made it difficult for her to find her true love.
The romance drama film “Ulan”, written and directed by Irene Emma Villamor, also won 5 other major awards for the Philippines: Best Feature Film, Best Direction (Fiction), Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Sound.
Meanwhile, veteran drama actor Carlo Aquino just paired up with Phenomenal star and celebrity endorser Maine Mendoza of Eat Bulaga and GMA-7 in the newly released movie “Isa Pa With Feelings“.
ABS-CBN actors Lustre and Aquino will compete for the Grand Prize against other best actor and best actress winners in the 2019 AAA competitions that awards the best works from the participating countries of Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
ABS-CBN won 9 major awards at the 2019 AAA, including:

The Grand Prize will be awarded on December 5 and 6 during the annual Singapore Media Festival to be held at The Victoria Theatre in Singapore.
ABS-CBN previously bagged the first Asian Academy Creative Award in 2018 for the country’s longest drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” for Best Single Drama/Telemovie.
Earlier this year, the network won two world medals at the 2019 New York Festivals World’s Best TV & Film Awards and snagged 12 international awards at the Cinema WorldFest Awards in Canada for the movie “Quezon’s Game”.
More recently, ABS-CBN actress Maja Salvador won the Best Actress at the Busan International Film Festival’s Asia Contents Awards for the TV series “Wildflower”.
