A New Cultural and Spiritual Space in Antipolo
Museo P. Lhuillier has opened its doors to the public as a new cultural and spiritual landmark in Antipolo, offering Filipinos access to a thoughtfully curated collection of religious artifacts, European antiques, and heritage memorabilia gathered over decades by Ambassador Philippe Jones Lhuillier.
Located in Antipolo, Rizal, the museum opened this year as a space designed to share the Ambassador’s personal collections with the public, reflecting a lifelong commitment to faith, service, and cultural stewardship shaped by years of diplomatic work and community involvement.
A Museum Founded on Shared Heritage
Museo P. Lhuillier was founded on the belief that heritage becomes more meaningful when shared. Conceived as both a cultural destination and a place of quiet reflection, the museum invites visitors to engage with objects and stories shaped by global encounters while remaining deeply anchored in Filipino identity.
“Many of these pieces have been carefully kept for years,” Ambassador Philippe Jones Lhuillier said during the opening. “It has long been my hope to make these pieces accessible to the Filipino public. My hope is that Museo P. Lhuillier becomes a place of reflection and discovery, where visitors can connect with stories of faith, heritage, and global tradition.”
A Diplomatic Journey Rooted in Service
The museum reflects Ambassador Lhuillier’s 17-year diplomatic journey, during which he served as Philippine Ambassador to Italy, Albania, San Marino, Portugal, and currently Spain. Throughout his postings, he worked to strengthen bilateral relations and champion the welfare of overseas Filipinos, while promoting Philippine culture on the global stage.
Before entering public service, Ambassador Lhuillier helped expand access to microfinancial services for everyday Filipinos through Cebuana Lhuillier, a commitment to community upliftment that later evolved into broader philanthropic, cultural, and heritage initiatives.
Family Reflections and Legacy
Jean Henri Lhuillier, President and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier, described the museum as a reflection of his father’s lifelong dedication to service, noting how his diplomatic career consistently placed Filipino welfare and culture at the forefront.
For the family, the museum also holds personal meaning. Camille Lhuillier-Albani, General Manager of Casa de Memoria, shared that many of the displayed pieces were part of Ambassador Lhuillier’s life while his children were growing up. Opening these collections to the public, she said, reflects both a love for art and history and a desire to offer Filipinos a space for reflection and connection.
Galleries That Bridge Cultures
Museo P. Lhuillier’s galleries bring together religious collections, European antiques, and curated memorabilia, many acquired during Ambassador Lhuillier’s diplomatic assignments. The exhibits highlight how Philippine heritage intersects with global traditions, forming a narrative that bridges cultures while remaining rooted in Filipino values.
Among its key features is the Kapilya de Santa Rosa de Lima, which serves as a quiet sanctuary for devotion and contemplation. The APJL Hall highlights milestones from the Ambassador’s diplomatic career, while a rotating pop-up gallery is set to host seasonal exhibitions, collaborations, and cultural programs.
Strengthening Antipolo’s Cultural Identity
Rooted in faith, service, and stewardship, Museo P. Lhuillier emphasizes reverence and reflection in both its design and curation. As it opens to the public, the museum adds to Antipolo’s growing identity as a destination for arts, culture, and pilgrimage, offering a space where past and present meet through shared heritage.
