Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee flaunted Filipino fashion when she arrived in London for the Miss World competition.
The country’s pageant representative left the country on November 20 wearing a pink suit and arrived in England’s capital in her suit bearing the colors of the Philippine national flag.
Dee’s suit, designed by Nono Palmos, was made from native Filipino fabrics done by Yakan weavers from Basilan in Southern Philippines.
The actress, model, and TV host comes from a family of actors and beauty queens. Her mother Melanie Marquez won Miss International in 1979 and cousin Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez won Reina Hispanoamericana in 2017.
Dee aims to follow the steps of Pinay Miss World 2013 Megan Young and win the second crown for the Philippines.
The 23-year-old Filipina beauty queen hinted that her gown for the coronation night is inspired from the concept of “pearl of the orient seas” as designed by Francis Libiran.
It can be recalled that reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray also championed native Filipino fabrics in her fashion during the competition in Thailand in 2018.
SEND cheers to Michelle Dee as she carries the Philippine colors in London!
