Newly-crowned Miss World Philippines Michelle Marquez Dee is building her own pageant legacy as she aims for the country’s second Miss World title when she competes in London later this year.
Miss World, one of the four major global beauty pageants, gave the Philippines’ its first Miss World title when Megan Young won the crown in 2013.
Michelle Dee, who won the crown at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on September 15, carries the legacy of family’s successes in the beauty pageant global circuit with her mother Melanie Marquez winning the 1979 Miss International and her cousin Winwyn Marquez who won the Philippines’ first Reina Hispanoamericana crown in 2017.
Dee went on social media to thank her supporters including her mother Melanie whom she acknowledged as one of her mentors.
The actress-model emerged with the top title in the pageant competition against 39 other candidates.
Miss World Philippines Michelle Dee was crowned alongside other Filipina winners who will represent the country in their respective pageants:
- Miss World Philippines – Michelle Dee
- Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas – Katrina Llegado
- Miss Eco Philippines – Kelley Day
- Miss Multinational – Isabelle De Leon
- Miss Tourism Philippines – Glyssa Perez
- Miss Eco Teen Philippines – Vanessa Mae Walters
Michelle Dee will compete as the Philippines’ bet to the 69th Miss World pageant to be held from from November 20 to December 14, 2019 in London.
