Multi-division title record holder Manny Pacquiao is all set to defend his WBA Welterweight belt on January 19 streamed live on free television.
The Filipino boxing champion will fight Adrien Broner in the Las Vegas ring to defend his latest and 11th championship belt which he won in 2018 by knocking out Argentinian champion Lucas Matthysse in Malaysia in a GNP-ranking triumphant story that showed Pacquiao is back at the top of the boxing universe.
ITV4 will make the live coverage of the WBA World Welterweight bout available on free-to-air-television in the United Kingdom under its new deal with Haymon Sports Premier Boxing Champions.
“This unprecedented deal between PBC and ITV is great news for boxing fans in the UK. We look forward to bringing viewers big events and superb action from some of the world’s best fighters in the coming years,” said Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport. The world-class action from events for the next three years will include free-to-air broadcasts on ITV’s channels, including ITV main channel and ITV4 and ITV Hub, and will also include pay per views on ITV’s PPV channel, ITV Box Office.
Manny Pacquiao steps up to the ring for the 70th fight of his boxing career to “take on a man more than a decade his junior to defend the latest of the 11 world title belts he has held across eight divisions in his career,” says ITV in their media release.
