International boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is adding another first to his achievements with his setting up of the world’s first celebrity cryptocurrency.
The only 8-division champion in the history of world boxing, Manny Pacquiao launched his very own cryptocurrency called “Pac Tokens” during his Concert for Champions event on September 1 held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The 40-year-old Filipino champion, who recently defeated 30-year-old Keith Thurman to claim the unified World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight Super Championship in Nevada, announced the availability of “Pac Tokens” for fans to use in buying his merchandize and interact with him on social media.
The “Pac” token will be listed on Singapore’s Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX).
“It is the world’s first celebrity cyrptocurrency,” noted Reuters in a report that also cites tennis champion Caroline Wozniacki, soccer star Michael Owen, and singer Jason Derulo as among the personalities who intend to follow suit and launch their own celebrity crypto tokens.
Manny Pacquiao’s “Pac Tokens” are backed by investments from Pacquiao, Owen, and Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
Asia’s Game Changer of the Year has built a worldwide audience from his live boxing battles and has served as inspiration for video gaming characters and a Pacquiao robot.
SEND well wishes in the comments below for Manny Pacquiao for using technology to reach his global audience!
