The Maja Salvador-starrer “Wildflower” will represent the Philippines as the country’s lone nominee at the 1st Asia Contents Awards to be held in October during the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Asian Film Market in South Korea.
ABS-CBN announced the Wildflower nomination in the Best Asian Drama category at the inaugural staging of the Asia Contents Awards at the Busan festival.
The Asia Contents Awards’ Best Asian Drama is given in honor of the best work that has achieved the most outstanding performance from nominated Asian dramas and is awarded to 2-3 dramas.
The 1st Asia Contents Awards, which aims to reward the finest TV dramas produced across Asia in the past five years, will pit Philippine television hit series Widflower against outstanding TV series from 10 ASEAN countries, South Korea, Japan, and China.
Wildflower aired on ABS-CBN in 2017 and reigned in primetime TV for a year. Its main protagonist Ivy Aguas/Lily Cruz, played by Maja Salvador, was noted for her embodiment of women empowerment and fighting against oppression as she took down the vicious clan of Julio Ardiente, played by Tirso Cruz III.
The Asia Contents Awards will take place at the BIFF Theater, Busan Cinema Center on October 6.
Another ABS-CBN production, the Alden Richards-Kathryn Bernardo blockbuster film “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is set to premiere, ahead of the BIFF, in Seoul, South Korea this September at the 1st Korea Pinoy International Film Festival.
