
Lyceans once again honored media professionals during the 3rd Laurus Nobilis Media Excellence Awards held at Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite in celebration of the media’s role in inspiring future generations and shaping public discourse.
Film Development Council of the Philippines Chairman and CEO Jose Javier “Direk Joey” Reyes led the Laurus Nobilis 2025 awardees for his contribution to Philippine media and cinema.
Direk Joey lauded the event in a video sent to the organizers, “Most especially at a time when there is an overflow of information when there are various vessels and vehicles of distorted truth, people dedicated to the honesty and truthfulness of media is of utmost imperative.”
“To all the students of media right now, yours is the responsibility to correct the errors that have been created by generations that came before you,” Direk Joey imparted in his video message.
Among the honorees who graced the event last March 28 to personally receive their trophies include Elijah Canlas of “Uninvited” and Candy
Pangilinan of “Road Trip” for Film Acting; Pia Arcangel and Jeff Canoy for TV News Presentation; DJ ChaCha of True FM and Johnson Manabat of Radyo 630 for Radio News Anchoring; and DJ Robin Sienna of Love Radio for Radio Disk Jockeying (Female).
FDCP Technical Consultant for Academic Linkages Seymour Sanchez received the Icon of Media Excellence Award, the highest honor of the Laurus Nobilis Awards, on behalf of Direk Joey.
Other Laurus Nobilis 2025 awardees are *Kara David *of “I-Witness” and Kim Atienza of *“Dapat Alam Mo!” *for Public Affairs Hosting; Amy Perez, “It’s Showtime,” and Paolo Ballesteros, “Drag Race Philippines,” Entertainment Show Hosting; BINI and TJ Monterde, Musical Performance; Maja Salvador and Andres Muhlach, Brand Endorsement; Ashley Ortega, “Pulang Araw, ” and Rabin Angeles, “Mutya ng Section E,” TV Acting; Lenie Aycardo and Hajie Alejandro, Online Content Creation; and Papa Jackson of Energy FM, Radio Disk Jockeying (Male).
LPU Cavite Communication Program Chair Mary Grace Arroyo-Vasquez commended the honorees who are “more than just outstanding journalists, performers, and creators—they are role models who illuminate the path for young minds, using their platforms to spark positive change, amplify voices, and champion truth and creativity.”
Senior LPU Cavite Communication students organized the event, with the theme *“Luminaries in Media: Beacon of Youth Empowerment.” *Laurus Nobilis recognized “brilliance, passion, and influence in the field of media” of professionals who embody LPU ideals and aspirations.
