Filipina actress Lovi Poe is starring opposite Poppy Delevingne and Alex Pettyfer in the upcoming Hollywood biopic, The Chelsea Cowboy.
Poe joins the English actors in the Ben Cookson-directed film based on the life of 1960s actor and gangster John Bindon.
According to a report by Deadline on August 24, 2021, Poe will portray prolific British blues singer Dana Gillespie “who was well known for her close personal ties to leading singers and actors” and employed Bindon as a security aide.
The Kapuso actress took to Instagram to share her excitement and participation in the international film.
“Aaaah….can’t wait to start filming The Chelsea Cowboy in October,” Lovi Poe shared on her Instagram.
“The film is a biopic based on the life of actor, gangster and lothario John Bindon. I’ll be playing blues British singer Dana Gillespie!” Poe adds.
The Chelsea Cowboy charts the rise and fall of underworld hard-man turned actor Bindon, who despite a successful acting career and passionate romantic liaisons with members of high society, was unable to leave his criminal past behind.
The film’s producers are Life Begins and GCB Films, alongside Pettyfer (who plays Bindon) and James Ireland’s production company Dark Dreams Entertainment. Executive producers include Idris Elba and Victor Glynn.
Lovi Poe was named Best Actress for her role in the 2019 movie Latay (The Battered Husband) at the 10th International Film Festival Manhattan in New York, U.S.A.
