Here’s a list of ongoing fundraising campaigns and Philippine organizations that are helping Filipino lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) youth, the elderly, and vulnerable communities beyond June’s Pride Month.
Filipinos and Philippine-based groups participated in these activities and events organized during Pride Month celebrated annually in June around the world to honor members of the LGBTQ+ community and support their rights.
Here’s the list of groups providing support and raising funds for the Filipino LGBTQ+ community:
Metro Manila Pride
Metro Manila Pride is a “volunteer-managed, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization” that annually holds the Pride March and Festival, an open-access Pride event based in Metro Manila.
The volunteer organization also runs year-long programs focused on cultural work, human rights education, and policy advocacy, among others. Those interested may volunteer or donate through the organization’s website.
UP Babaylan
UP Babaylan is the longest-existing LGBTQI student organization in the Philippines and in Asia based in the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman.
The student-led organization holds discussions, protests, and activities for LGBTQ rights and the passage of the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Bill in the Philippines.
UP Babaylan’s month-long activities and events in June 2022 included a commission-based fundraiser initiative in partnership with volunteer queer artists to raise funds for PFTM and the Home for the Golden Gays, an open letter campaign to combat isolation, an online protest for equality and human rights, and many more.
UP Diliman University Library Gender and Development Committee
The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman University Library Gender and Development (GAD) Committee is raising funds for the Home for the Golden Gays, a non-profit organization that provides support to elderly members of the LGBTQ community.
Among the merchandise being sold to raise funds for the non-profit are bucket hats, t-shirts, and face masks.

GALANG (Philippines)
“Galang,” the Filipino word for respect, is a non-government organization (NGO) that works with lesbians, bisexual women, and trans men (LBT) in urban poor communities, among others.

Notable Filipinos who are supporting LGBTQ+ rights include social entrepreneur Laurindo Garcia, the Philippines’ Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Franco Habijan, and Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez and her people’s rights advocacy.
