LIST: Filipino Olympians, Paralympians Vying For Sporting Glory in Paris Olympics

The Philippines is anchoring its Paris medal hopes on twenty-two Olympians and six Paralympians, marking the 100th year of Filipino participation in the Summer Games.

Tokyo Olympics silver medalists in boxing Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam, World No. 2 pole vaulter EJ Obiena, and World Champion gymnast Carlos Yulo lead the Filipino Olympians vying to deliver the country’s next gold medal following weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz’s historic gold from Tokyo.

The Olympics is scheduled for July 26 to August 11 in various venues in Paris, France, with around 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees competing in 45 sports.

Para swimming champion Ernie Gawilan leads the Philippine delegation aiming for the country’s first gold medal in the Paralympics, joining around 4,400 athletes competing in 22 sports and 23 disciplines from August 28 to September 8.
