The Philippines’ leading heritage destination Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan has been named the Best Historic Hotel in Asia and the Pacific at this year’s Historic Hotels Awards of Excellence.
The heritage hotel and beach resort in Bagac, Bataan was declared the winner of the regional category during the annual awarding ceremony and gala held at The American Club Resort Hotel in Kohler, Wisconsin on November 11, 2021.
Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar was recognized with the prestigious award presented “to a hotel in Asia/Pacific that best celebrates its history in the guest experience and provides exceptional customer hospitality and service”.
The Philippine heritage hotel bested fellow nominees including the Deogarh Mahal in Rajasthan, India (1670), Raffles Singapore in Singapore (1887), Beijing Hotel NUO in Beijing, China (1917), The Fullerton Hotel Singapore in Singapore (1924), Raffles Grand Hotel D’Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia (1932), and The Murray Hong Kong in Hong Kong (1969).
Winners were selected by nominations submitted by historic hotels, preservation supporters, prior award recipients, community leaders, and leadership from Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide.
The Historic Hotels Awards of Excellence recognize and celebrate the finest historic hotels and hoteliers from across the United States of America and from around the world.
Founded in 2010 by art collector and architect Jose Rizalino Acuzar, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar presents the legacies of Spanish rule in the Philippines in a heritage park in Barangay Ibaba in Bagac, Bataan. It is also a beach resort, convention center, and heritage destination that showcases the best of local history, culture, artistry, and craftsmanship.
