The Philippines’ Kenneth Cobonpue has been honored with a nomination from the prestigious Interior Design Magazine’s Best of Year Awards.
The multi-awarded furniture designer and manufacturer from Cebu is nominated for his Limbo Hoop in the Lighting: Chandelier category of the 2020 edition of the design industry’s premier awards that honor the world’s most significant work of the year.
The new 2020 product addition to Kenneth Cobonpue’s anthropomorphic Limbo series is described as a “dramatic and uniquely emotive collection of hanging lights inspired by the impossible precision of an aerialist suspended mid flight.”
“Varnished in a copper finish and punctuated with subtle floral detailing, Hoop’s gravity-defying protagonist is painstakingly hewn from hand-woven gossamer wire — contributing a lightness and delicacy of form that belie the chandelier’s sprawling scale. Encircling her body, ring-shaped LED lights complete the high-octane narrative, effectively erasing the lines between utility, story-telling and sculpture.”
Interior Design’s Best of Year Awards will be held in a virtual ceremony aired on the magazine’s social media on Facebook Live, Twitter, and on InteriorDesign.net.
