The Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards (KathDen) tandem, “Hello, Love, Goodbye (HLG)”, made Filipino movie history and broke box office records within weeks of its release.
ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema declared the KathDen-starrer the highest-grossing movie of all time for grossing worldwide Php 880,603,490 as of September 3. The ABS-CBN film production house announced the milestone during the Thanksgiving Party for its cast and crew.
Kathryn Bernardo thanked the HLG team and acknowledged the value of the project saying, “Binuo nya pagkatao ko. Ito ang pinakamahirap na ginawa ko (This completed me. This was the hardest thing I’ve ever done).”
Alden Richards thanked the Star Cinema team for working with him and shared, “This project made me realize na there’s beauty in collaboration and unity.”
The blockbuster tandem of KathDen was a casting coup as the first movie pairing of top talents from rival networks – Kathryn Bernardo of ABS-CBN of the blockbuster on-and-off-screen loveteam KathNiel with Daniel Padilla, and Alden Richards of GMA Eat Bulaga’s phenomenal AlDub tandem with Maine Mendoza.
Bernardo now holds the Philippine cinema record of being the female lead in two highest-grossing films, KathDen’s HLG released on July 31, 2019, and The Hows of Us (THOU) with her regular love team partner Daniel Padilla (KathNiel) released in 2018.
Director Cathy Garcia-Molina directed both blockbuster movies for Star Cinema.
HLG soared to the top 2 spot of highest-grossing films on August 23, just Php77 million shy of the record set by THOU. The production claimed the top spot after accounting for ticket sales from different parts of the Asia Pacific region such as Australia, Brunei, Guam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Saipan.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” is a romantic drama between two overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong. The movie has received massive support among Filipinos around the world and continues to screen and premiere in theaters worldwide.
HLG will premiere in South Korea, where Alden Richards recently received his Asian Star Prize, during a special screening at the 1st Korea Pinoy International Film Festival at Arirang Cine Center on September 28-29.
SEND congratulations in the comments below to KathDen and the team of “Hello, Love, Goodbye” for marking a milestone in Philippine movie-making!
