Filipino champion athlete James De Los Santos is staying on top of the World eKata Rankings, after harvesting six more golds and widening his lead since he took the top spot in October.
The Philippines’ national karate player first took the Top 1 spot in the World eKata Ranking after winning 15 gold medals in seven months of weekly tournaments from April to October 2020.
By October 15, De Los Santos had scored 8,950 points to overtake Portugal’s Eduardo Garcia’s 8,575.
A month later on November 15, the Filipino champion martial artist had picked up six more gold medals to stay on top of the standings:
- 21st Gold
Won the Nox Dojo Markham City Open eTournament after battling Switzerland on November 16
- 20th Gold
Won the Okinawa eTournament World Series #2 after facing the USA in the finals on November 12
- 19th Gold
Won the eChampions Trophy World Series #2, beating South Africa on November 3
- 18th Gold
Won the Pune Open India Karate eTournament on October 31 after a face-off with Brazil
- 17th Gold
Won the Katana Intercontinental League #3, besting Costa Rica on October 26 while making history as the first eKata player to breach the 26-point mark
- 16th Gold
Won the Golden League Karate eTournament #2 on October 14
Complementing his gold harvest are medal winnings of James De Los Santos’ students from MKKPI in the same tournaments he joined.
James De Los Santos revealed to Good News Pilipinas that he is set to continue competing in more tourneys for the rest of November and December in his mission to keep the Philippines’ flag flying on top of the World eKata.
