Jennylyn Mercado and Gabby Concepcion received acting honors for their TV series, “Love You Two” at the 2019 World Class Excellence Japan Awards (WCEJA).
Jennylyn Mercado, a multi-awarded GMA Network Kapuso actress, singer, and host, was awarded Outstanding Actress of the Year for her portrayal of the character of “Raffy” in the romantic comedy series.
Seasoned actor and celebrity endorser Gabby Concepcion was awarded Outstanding Actor of the Year for his role as “Jake” in the series dubbed the first telepelikula on Philippine TV.
The award-winning TV series tells the story of Raffy Batungbakal, an interior designer who is overprotective to her younger sister Sam. Raffy opposes her sister’s dating the older guy, Jake Reyes, because of her past relationship. When Raffy eventually realizes Jake’s value, she unintentionally falls in love with him.
The series’ actors Ollie Espino and Yasser Martha received the awards on behalf of the lead stars during the 7th edition of the WCEJA ceremony held at the Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay City on October 26. Ollie Espino also took home the Outstanding Character Actor award.
“Love You Too” which aired from April until September 2019 was also hailed as the Outstanding TV Series of the Year.
The Filipino romcom series won Best Promo/Trailer for the Philippines at the 2019 Asian Academy Creative Awards.
Jennylyn Mercado will next star in the highly-anticipated Filipino adaptation of the Korean hit series Descendants of the Sun which starred Halyu stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo.
The award-winning actress will play the role of Dr. Maxine Kang, the love interest of Big Boss Lucas Manalo to be played by Dingdong Dantes. The Philippines’ Team Alpha, composed of Dantes, Rocco Nacino, Jon Lucas, Prince Clemente, Lucho Ayala, and Paul Salas, went through 36 hours of Special Forces Training at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.
