Filipino karateka champion James De Los Santos has ended his 2020 tourneys with a strong finish on Christmas Day, winning three more games to give him a total of 36 gold medals and 6 Grand Winner Titles.
The World No. 1 e-Kata player wrapped up the year by ruling three tournaments on December 25, 2020:
- 34th Gold, Katana Intercontinental League #5 – Super Final
- 35th Gold, Golden League Karate E-Tournament #4 – Grand Final
- 36th Gold, E-Karate Games Grand Winner 2020
It is the 3rd time the Filipino champion athlete won 3 golds in 1 day. He claimed his 1st 3-for-1 medal haul when he won his 27th, 28th, and 29th at the E-Karate Games, 2nd Euro Grand Prix, and Rome International Endas Karate Cup in the December 8 tournaments.
The second set was when he dominated the Okinawa E-Tournament World Series #3, 3rd Dutch Open E-Tournament, and Athlete’s E-Tournament Finale on December 21 where he notched his 31st, 32nd, and 33rd golds.
The Christmas Day medal haul also gave the Filipino e-Kata world leader additional three Grand Winner Titles to his sterling record which now totals 6 titles.
De Los Santos grabbed his first three grand winner honors in the Venice Cup for his 26th gold, the E-Champions Trophy World Series where he picked up his 30th gold, and the Athlete’s E-Tournament Series for his 33rd gold.
The 30-year-old national athlete has exemplified outstanding performances in the last three virtual kata tournaments this year and took home his 34th gold after beating Slovenia’s Nejc Sterniša with a 25.38-24.18 score in the Katana Intercontinental League #5.
In the Golden League Karate E-Tournament #4, De Los Santos downed American Alfredo Bustamante, 25.3-24.1.
De Los Santos claimed his 36th gold this year after defeating Belgium’s Wasmuel Wado, 25.4-23.4, in the E-Karate Grand Winner tournament.

James De Los Santos has solidified his World No. 1 rank by earning 15,710 ranking points since the start of the virtual kata tournaments last March.
